Sharon Abshagen

Sharon Abshagen looks for the light in early morning and late evenings in the country side around Durango, Colorado. Sharing the “golden hours” on canvas is her goal.

 

After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, she spent the majority of her time in fiber arts and sculpting. But, when the opportunity arose, she returned to her first love which is oil painting and has been concentrating on that art form ever since. Sharon finds painting on location exciting and challenging and hopes this love of the out of doors comes through her paintings. The Plein Air paintings support her work in the studio when she translates them into larger pieces.

 

Sharon is a signature member of Plein Air Artists of Colorado, The Plein Air Painters of the 4 Corners, The Plein Air Painters of New Mexico and Oil Painters of America.
